New Serta Mattress Factory to Bring Jobs, New Development to New Baltimore

Governor George E. Pataki today announced that National Bedding Company LLC, the nation's largest Serta licensee, will build a manufacturing plant in the Town ofNew Baltimore in GreeneCounty The company will invest approximately $11.25 million and will create 240 new jobs in the Columbia County Empire Zone. The company currently owns and operates a factory in Jamestown
"National Bedding Company's decision to construct a new manufacturing plant and create 240 new jobs is another example of how our Empire Zones program and efforts to help manufacturers are resulting in new jobs for New York families," Governor Pataki said. "As we move forward with our aggressive new five-point manufacturing plan, we will continue to help manufacturers like National Bedding expand their operation and will be well-poised to meet our ambitious goal of creating one million new jobs by the end of the decade."

Greene County IDA Board Chairman Willis Vermilyea was joined today by Governor George Pataki, State Senator James Seward, National Bedding/Serta President Richard Yulman, Greene County Legislative Chairman Frank Stabile, Jr. and New Baltimore Town Supervisor David Louis to announce the most significant job creation deal in recent memory.
Details of the deal include the announcement that National Bedding/Serta and the Greene County IDA have entered into a contract for the sale of 16 acres in the Kalkberg Commerce Park currently under development in the Towns of New Baltimore and Coxsackie. National Bedding/Serta has committed to the construction of a 232,000 square foot manufacturing plant and the creation of approximately 240 jobs over a three year period in manufacturing, office administration and shipping.
